AA state softball: Glacier faces Billings West for title shot
GREAT FALLS — Glacier (16-6) will play Billings West for the second time in two days today at 10 a.m. in the third-place game at the Class AA state softball tournament at the Multi-Sports Complex.
The winner of that game moves on to face tournament unbeaten Great Falls High at noon in the championship contest of the double-elimination event. If Great Falls High would lose, a second title game would be played at 2 p.m.
Glacier opened play Friday with a 7-4 victory over West. The Wolfpack did all of its scoring in the first two innings.
Glacier then lost to Great Falls High 8-6. The Wolfpack scored four times in the first inning, but was held to one-run innings in the fourth and fifth.
Jena Willis went 3 for 4 in that outing while Ali Williams, 2 for 4, homered and drove in two runs.
Against West, Kayla Russell and Williams both had two hits. Willis homered in that game.
In the circle, Willis struck out 15 West hitters and issued just one walk.
Both teams had 10 hits.
Willis fanned six Great Falls batters and walked none.
