Rolland 'Dolly' Stieler, 87

Rolland “Dolly” Stieler, 87, passed away on Saturday May 25, 2013, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

Dolly was born on April 25, 1926, in Albert Lea, Minn., to his parents, Harold and Jesse Stieler. He was raised and attended school in Albert Lea.

Dolly married Kathleen Eddy, they were together for 62 years.

After high school, Dolly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After he was discharged from the Marines, he started to work as a semi-truck driver, who had accumulated just under 3 million miles accident-free.

Dolly was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Jesse Stieler; a brother, Jack Stieler; sisters, Violet Callahan and Laurainne Babcock; and a grandson, Ryan Meehan.  

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Stieler of Kalispell; a daughter, Sharon Meehan of Kalispell; grandchildren, Corey Meehan of Kalispell, Shaun Meehan of Maple Valley, Wash., T.J. Stieler of Olympia, Wash., Michelle Welcome of North Bend, Wash., and Billy Stieler of Kirkland, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Zach Teeters, Dakota Stieler and Megan Welcome; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at Glacier Memorial Gardens.

The family request donations be made in his name to the Montana Veterans Home.
