Baseball: Lakers 10-run Loggers

LIBBY — The Kalispell Lakers AA team found a late flurry of runs, scoring seven in the final two innings to run away with a 11-1 win at Libby Loggers A in a nonconference American Legion baseball game on Thursday.

Sean O’Connell blasted a home run in the fourth inning to put the Lakers on the board, but it took another few innings for the Kalispell offense to get really rolling.

The Lakers scored three runs in the sixth, capitalizing on five walks and an error in the inning to take a 4-0 lead on the Loggers.

Kalispell went on to bat around in the eighth, scoring five runs, and scored another two runs in the ninth to reach double digits.

Will Reichel scored the only run for the Loggers, reaching safely on a wild pitch after leading off the sixth with a double.

“Walks and errors got us again,” Loggers coach Kelly Morford said.

O’Connell, Chris Sibley and Justin Wallace all went 2 for 4 for Kalispell. The Lakers play at Glacier Twins A on Sunday in a nonconference slate.

Libby is off until June 7, when its hosts the Glacier Twins B for a doubleheader.
