Wanted woman wants to turn herself in

A woman with a warrant contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office wanting someone to come and pick her up. The woman’s warrant — out of Washington — was for escape, a violation of her probation on her original murder conviction. Despite her desire to turn herself in, she was advised that if she wanted to be arrested, she would have to go to Spokane.

An extremely drunken man called to report that a woman, also drunk, had beaten him up at a First Street West home in Martin City. Dispatchers had to repeatedly call the man back, as he would refuse to talk about the incident, say they needed to “get their (expletive) together,” and then start rambling about President Barack Obama before hanging up.

Each time dispatchers called the man back, he started the conversation as if the previous one had never occurred, and several times he slurred to the point that he was inaudible. He was advised to file a statement after he sobered up.

A pair of underage girls reported drinking at a Central Avenue bar in Martin City were gone by the time a deputy arrived.

A man reported he was jumped by a pair of men on Tronstad Road. He said they were all just talking when one of the men punched and kicked him, knocking him on the ground, at which point they both started attacking him.

A pumpkin thief struck at a Mission Trail home, where several youths in a vehicle jumped out, ran up to the porch and stole all the residents’ pumpkins. One of the residents tried to chase the vehicle but could not catch it.

A boy with a history of hitting other children was reported to have assaulted a boy and girl after school on East Evergreen Drive.

A Helena Flats Road resident reported people in the area shooting paintballs, some of which struck the resident’s truck and house.

Someone requested a welfare check on an elderly Conrad Drive man who was burning his weeds, noting the fire might be getting away from the man. The man told a deputy his fire was under control and that he would call 911 if he needed the fire department.

An Aluminum Drive resident in Columbia Falls reported someone was spotlighting across the river from the aluminum plant. The resident also reported hearing a shot.

Kalispell Police officers used a Taser on a man and arrested him after it was reported that he hit his wife at their First Street West apartment.

Another woman was assaulted by her boyfriend in a room at a U.S. 93 South hotel. The suspect is on probation for theft, assault on a peace officer and operation of a clandestine drug lab.

Yet another woman reported the tires on her vehicle were slashed while it was parked on South Main Street, just hours after her ex-boyfriend threatened to do that very thing.

An observant passerby saved a man’s life when the passerby reported the man had a tube running from his exhaust into his vehicle. The man was later transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Child and parent services stepped in and took custody of a 2-year-old child and a 6-year-old child after they were left alone in a room at a U.S. 93 South property.

A trio of trouble-making teenagers were reported by an Eighth Avenue West woman, who said that after they came to her house trick-or-treating and she didn’t have anything for them, they began to call her son names and broke a lawn ornament.

A perturbed passerby called police after hearing a noise coming from inside a U-Haul truck in a U.S. 93 North parking lot, possibly an animal. An officer checked the truck and reported hearing no noises.

A fight broke out outside of a North Main Street bar.

An East Second Street woman contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report a group of raucous partiers, some of whom were running through the hall yelling and seemed to be drunk. When she asked them to keep it down, they cursed at her.

A mail carrier escaped possible injury as well as a cliche when she escaped a charging St. Bernard on East Ninth Street.

A Columbia Falls Police officer responded to Nucleus Avenue after receiving a report of someone getting beaten up in a back parking lot. The officer reported the stories of the two people involved were not matching up and that the officer would follow up when they were sober.
