Drunk driver is out of control

Kalispell Police Department officers responded to U.S. 2 East after a drunk driver was reported wreaking havoc in the area. The man had already jumped curbs and ran over barriers in his gold 1980s van before driving about 50 miles per hour through a parking lot.

The man reportedly got out and tried to get in the sliding door of a store, but could barely walk. He was then reported driving over the barrier wall at another nearby business before stopping again, this time getting out and urinating behind the van.

Before he could get going again, the man apparently had to re-learn how to shift into different gears, as he sat in park with the accelerator held to the floor before realizing his error. He was eventually tracked to a home in Evergreen.

An administrator at a Grandview Drive school contacted police after finding an Internet meme threatening one of the school’s professors.

A nightmare on Ninth Street East drew police when the resident, who lives alone, reported finding blood splattered in the tub and a bloody footprint. A responding officer reported the blood looked dry and that there were no signs of a crime.

A West Idaho Street resident complained about a neighbor who was feeding seagulls and causing a nuisance. The resident said the man’s actions were drawing “a lot of seagulls.”

An officer counseled a man who was reported wearing camouflage and shooting a BB gun up in the air at squirrels on Third Avenue West North.

A drunk man who tried to get into a random person’s vehicle on Woodland Avenue after walking down the middle of the street was given a ride home by an officer.


Evergreen Fire Rescue responded to what was initially believed to be a much larger crash Monday evening that turned out instead to be a small crash with extensive damage, just not to the vehicles’ occupants. It was initially reported to involve four vehicles, partially due to a large debris field, but only included two. Despite extensive damage to both vehicles — including one striking a building — one of the drivers refused medical treatment at the scene and the other was transported with only minor injuries.


A riderless horse drew a response from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, when a person on Spotted Bear Road in Martin City reported he had just contained a horse with its saddle hanging off that had come down from Desert Mountain. It was found that the horse threw a rider on the mountain before making its way down to the city.

A Lenwood Lane landlord called for assistance after he started removing items from the property, having obtained a court order, when people who did not belong there started tearing into the boxes and scattering debris around.

A man had to use pepper spray on a bulldog and his small canine companion when they almost bit him on Pheasant Drive. The dogs’ owner was educated on the county dog ordinance.

A Lakeside man on Ridgewood Drive reported an antelope head was taken from his front yard, although he was unsure whether the thief was a human or an animal.

A man who had refused to leave an Electric Avenue bar in Bigfork, yelled at the bartender and smoked inside was eventually located by a deputy and counseled outside another bar as he was walking home.

A disorderly man was arrested after he was reported walking down U.S. 2 East in Columbia Falls yelling.

An Evergreen man reported his accountant after he paid her to do his taxes and she didn’t file them.

Employees of a U.S. 2 East business apprehended a shoplifter and held him on the ground while he resisted as they awaited deputies. The man was arrested and taken to the county jail.

The manager of a U.S. 2 East casino reported receiving a series of strange calls from a nearby motel.

A mad mother reported her son jumped and beat up her other son in a U.S. 2 East parking lot.

A Marion man complained that his neighbor’s garbage-loving dogs had gotten into his trash.

A person called with information about a gate that was blown up in Marion.


A Whitefish Police Department officer responded to a residential Wisconsin Avenue property to move along a transient who was sleeping in the mailbox area.

An employee at a Wisconsin Avenue store called for police to deal with a woman who came back in the store after stealing an expensive bottle of champagne the prior week.

A man who had just been fired from a U.S. 93 South business was reported to police after threatening the manager.


An elderly Seventh Street West woman contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department for help loading her very large dog in the car.
