Hockaday Members Salon show opens Nov. 7
Every year, Hockaday Museum of Art members who are artists by vocation or by avocation are invited to show one piece of their artwork in the media of their choice.
The 12th annual Members Salon will be on exhibit today through Dec. 28. The show features more than 120 works created in the last year.
Diversity is assured with a wide variety of media, including glass, sculpture, pottery, textile, photography, jewelry and painting using oil, watercolor, acrylic and dye on silk.
Many pieces will be offered for sale at fixed prices with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting the Hockaday’s mission “to enrich the cultural life of our community and region, and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park.”
Beginning Nov. 14, visitors to the museum may participate in the People’s Choice Awards by voting for their favorite piece.
The first-place prize this year is a solo exhibition in the Hockaday’s Community Access Gallery in fall 2014. Second and third places award cash prizes of $100 and $50, respectively. Winners will be announced Dec. 17.
The Members Salon opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14. Admission to the reception is free.
The Hockaday is located at 302 Second Ave. E. For more information, visit www.hockadaymuseum.org or call 755-5268.
