Second edition of Charlie Russell book released
The second edition of “Charlie Russell, The Cowboy Years,” by Jane Lambert, is now available.
It contains all of the adventures, horses and cronies of the first edition, and more: more pages, more cronies, more on Russell’s travels in Canada, plus chapters on the history of Judith Landing, and the challenges and perils of crossing major rivers with cattle.
Russell became America’s highest paid living artist of his time. He had the background of being an open-range cowboy for 11 years, and this experience, coupled with his extraordinary art talent and a photographic memory, allowed him to record this time period for all.
While not an art book, all of Russell’s art came from the years portrayed in this book. This is a story book, printed in black and white, and it contains examples of Russell’s early art, as well as 87 photographs, mostly vintage, to help illustrate the adventures.
To receive an autographed copy of the book, send $20, plus $4 shipping and handling, to Jane Lambert, 677 Pine Hollow Road, Stevensville, MT 59870.
