Phyllis Margaret Knoll, 83
Phyllis Margaret Knoll, 83, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Brendan House in Kalispell.
She was born March 31, 1930, in Helena.
Phyllis graduated from Flathead County High School and recently celebrated her class’s 60th reunion. She later took some business classes at Flathead Valley Community College.
Phyllis met Vernon at Bud Lake’s horse sale and they later married. They had been married for nearly 65 years. She was a mother of four children, farm wife, and could be seen at times driving the combine at harvest. She also worked at Kalispell Mercantile and at its closure she opened her own business, The Lingerie Place, on Main Street Kalispell.
She lovds her horses, dogs, cooking, sewing, gardening and being a homemaker. She loved her backcountry horse trips. Phyllis’ love of horses began with her and her cousins racing trains on horseback. Her first horse Fleda was ridden in the parade on Main Street. She served as secretary of the Saddle Club and was a member of Montford Maidens Home EC Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Vernon; son, David, and wife Irene; son, James; son, Steven, and wife Tricia, and their children, Travis, Avery and Ashley; and her daughter, Paula. Relatives include Sylvia, Mary Pat, Lola May, Lois, and many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends of the family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
