Snow advisory: 3 to 6 inches possible this weekend
The Flathead Valley is under a winter weather advisory while surrounding mountains are under a winter storm warning this weekend as a weather front descends on Northwest Montana.
Some mountain areas could receive 8 to 12 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. In the valley, 3 to 6 inches of snow are predicted, although isolated areas could get 8 to 10 inches.
Gusty winds are expected to push the snow around and produce travel challenges including low visibility and icy roadways.
In the Flathead Valley, there is a 90 percent chance of snow today, dropping to 50 percent tonight and 50 percent Sunday.
Nighttime temperatures are forecast to dip into the teens Sunday and Monday.
