Accident scene mistaken for brutal fight

A parent contacted the Kalispell Police Department to report about 60 youths in a Fourth Avenue West parking lot about to fight after having talked about it all day. The parent’s daughter said it was going to be “brutal.”

It turned out to be the scene of a car accident with no injuries. The potential assault was noted by police.

A man was tracked down to his Third Avenue East North home after a clerk reported refusing to sell alcohol to the man due to his intoxication. The man stumbled all over the parking lot and the clerk had to help him up at one point, reporting he had no balance inside the store. The man was found at home with his vehicle in the garage. He was advised not to drive any more that day.

A man was arrested after reportedly choking his ex-wife on Fifth Avenue West to the point that she had to bite him to get away.

A representative from a Hutton Ranch Road business reported a strange woman who had been repeatedly visiting the store for 13 days, buying a lot of cold pills and rubbing alcohol.

A group of ill-advised adults were reported shooting off a pellet rifle on East California Street. They were corrected by an officer who told them they weren’t allowed to do that within city limits.

A semiautomatic .45-caliber handgun was found in an empty lot in Evergreen.

A girl was caught out after curfew on Eighth Street West, and was cited for the violation before being turned over to her parents.

A motorist reported someone threw eggs at a vehicle on U.S. 93 North near West Reserve Drive.


A Whitefish Police Department officer responded to Idaho Avenue after six teens’ plans were blocked when the youth driving hung the truck up on a large pile of dirt.

An employee at a U.S. 93 South casino reported a man was back in the business, gambling, after having stolen merchandise that morning. The $3 debt was handled civilly.

A pair of drunk drivers were arrested on Central Avenue, one of whom was also found to be in possession of drugs.

A large man with a bloody face who looked like he had just been in a fight was reported walking on Central Avenue. He was unwilling to pursue charges.
