Sack of potatoes subdued without incident

You couldn’t make this stuff up! A Kalispell Police officer and a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officer were able to remove a five-pound sack of potatoes reported hanging from a tree on Seventh Street East that looked like it might fall into the street. Apparently, the potatoes were subdued without causing any mayhem.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested at a local school after he assaulted another boy, who was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Officers responded to a Sixth Avenue East property, where an unresponsive 35-year-old woman regained consciousness after the use of an automatic electronic defibrillator and CPR.

A report by a First Avenue West man that someone broke into his house and was creeping around turned up a man who apparently thought he was at a different house.

An Eighth Avenue West woman called police after a woman in a pickup truck ran over her son’s foot.

A resident called to discuss an ongoing issue with a roundabout.

A motorist reported a muskrat had just crossed U.S. 93 South and was very concerned the animal was going to get run over. An animal warden was unable to locate the rodent.

An officer who stopped to check on a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Justice Center at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday discovered the suspicious character was actually a custodian for the property.

A Fourth Avenue East man caught another person getting into his friend’s vehicle.

An Ashley Lake Road resident contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after witnessing a man in a truck apparently shoot a deer from the road and then continue to shoot toward the surrounding houses.

A Many Lakes Drive woman called 911 when someone tried to break into her house, beating on the door. She yelled that she was calling 911 before locking herself in her bedroom. After yelling, she could no longer hear the person outside.

A Lake Blaine Road woman called for help when her German shepherd and pit bull — both of which she had owned for two years with no problems — attacked one another, getting blood all over the house. The German shepherd sustained a small cut on its tongue and a puncture on its chest, while the pit bull sustained bite wounds on its ear and face.

A boy was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation after verbally harassing a woman at a U.S. 2 East restaurant — reportedly his roommate. He was also said to have been punching the windows and standing at another nearby building but staring at the restaurant.

A woman was arrested and jailed after her husband reported she had a meltdown and destroyed their Bigfork home, also punching him in the face.

A shaken West Evergreen Drive woman reported receiving a call from another woman who said, “I am going to find you and I am going to kill you.”

An East Oregon Street man called with questions about “getting sucked into [applying for] a credit card” at a retail store.

A man was reported threatening a woman in a U.S. 2 East park with a knife and talking about “gang stuff from California.”

A casino patron was reported after he was drinking more than the maximum one drink per 15 minutes while simultaneously complaining that the drinks weren’t coming fast enough. He was eventually given a ride home.

A pair of men were reported fighting in front of a downtown bar in Bigfork. Other patrons initially held the men down until they finally left.


A Baker Avenue woman contacted the Whitefish Police Department after seeing three teenagers run from her outbuilding, one of whom she believed she recognized as a friend of her son’s.

A mindless motorist was reported on East Edgewood Drive early Tuesday morning, swerving all over the road, at first without the vehicle’s headlights turned on.


A woman contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department to report someone was sending her juvenile daughter inappropriate texts.
