GPS directs owner back to truck

 The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Sunday about a truck being stolen from the front of the owner’s home on Pennant Lane in Lakeside. The truck had an Onstar GPS system that allowed for the vehicle to be recovered on Bear Dance Lane in Bigfork, where it was found abandoned.

There was a report of a burglary at a hardware store in Lakeside, but it wasn’t clear what was stolen.

A church on Bens Lane in Lakeside was broken into, and some cash was stolen.

There was a report of an attempted burglary at a store on U.S. 93 in Lakeside. It appeared a crowbar was used, but the culprit wasn’t able to gain entry.

A woman calling from Longrider Lane in Lakeside reported that she had allowed a 25-year-old man who was awaiting a trial for several burglaries to stay with her on a house arrest arrangement, but the man left the residence at about 10 p.m. Saturday. The woman had cared for the man as a foster child for about four years.

A woman got bit by a feral cat that died. The Kalispell hospital requested a rabies test on the carcass.

A woman calling from Main Street in Kalispell said her ex-boyfriend stole her truck, and apparently it wasn’t the first time. It turned out that the boyfriend’s name was also on the vehicle’s title, so it became a civil matter.

There was a report of a home being broken into on Belton Point Road in the West Glacier area.

Someone calling from Haywire Gulch reported that people were shooting at target bombs in the area.

A woman calling from Antelope Trail in the Whitefish area said a man familiar to her had stolen her dog.

There was a report of a husband and wife having an altercation on Playa Grande Road, but they were separated for the night.

Monday morning, at about 12:30 a.m. a man smashed a vehicle window on Montana 35 in Bigfork. The man was pursued by a deputy on foot and was taken into custody.

There was a report of a man staggering and wearing only one shoe near Montana 35 and Montana 209 near Bigfork. It was suspected he may have been involved with a crash that occurred on a Montana 35 bridge.

 

There was a report to the Kalispell Police Department of a woman and a teenage boy fighting on East California Street. It turned out the woman was punched in the chest by her son, who was arrested for partner-family member assault.

Two men were seen fighting at a gas station on U.S. 93 South. One of the men was punched so hard that he landed flat on his back.

A woman calling from Seventh Avenue West reported there was a strange man who was sitting outside of her house on her rocking chair. The man eventually left.

Monday, a panhandler called to complain about the city’s ordinance against panhandling. She asked why the Salvation Army can panhandle but homeless people can’t.

A woman was caught shoplifting at a Hutton Ranch Road store.

There was a report of a break-in attempt at a building on Commons Loop.

 

Whitefish Police got a report Sunday about a coat with a passport in it being stolen from a location on Central Avenue.

A woman called for help because she and her vehicle were stuck in an enclosed car wash on Riverside Avenue.

Early Monday, at about 3:20 a.m., there was a report of a man and woman having a physical altercation at an apartment complex on Spokane Avenue.
