Whitefish Theatre opens season with 'Noises Off'
Whitefish Theatre Company opens its 2013-14 theater season with a production of “Noises Off” at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
This fast-paced, energetic comedy opens with a sneak preview night at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10. Performances continue October 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 13 and 20 at 4 p.m.
From award-winning playwright Michael Frayn, “Noises Off” is a wickedly funny revelation of what can happen on the other side of the curtain. Called “the funniest farce ever written” by the New York Post, “Noises Off” is an uproarious play within a play that follows the on- and off-stage antics of a mediocre touring company as they perform ‘Nothing On,’ a flop stuffed with entrances and exits, mistaken identities, missed cues, very slippery sardines and slamming doors.
Hurtling along at breakneck speed, everything that can go wrong does as this troupe of misfits blunders from an ominously bad dress rehearsal to a spectacularly disastrous performance.
“This is a time-tested and audience-approved show,” says director Jesse DeVine. “In addition to being a hilarious comedy of timing, it is unique in that people attending the play are both audience members to a show as well as eavesdroppers to the craziness of the backstage ‘show.’”
A rotating stage offers audiences a view of both the on-stage and backstage antics.
“You must have the right actors to do this show,” DeVine says. “I am thrilled to have such a fantastic cast; this community is bursting at the seams with talent.”
The production features Todd Malo, Nicki Corne, Becky Rygg, Jim Mohn, Jenna Kubiak, Scarlett Schindler, Tony Hernandez, Dan Dammerman, Corey Burke and Kim Krueger.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and $8 for students with reserved seating.
Tickets for the sneak preview performance are $10, sold only at the door.
Purchase tickets at the box office, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or an hour before performances. Tickets also are available by calling 862-5371 or visiting www.whitefishtheatreco.org.
