Man pleads guilty to road-rage shooting
A Marion man pleaded guilty Thursday to felony criminal endangerment after shooting a pellet gun at a motorist and her passenger.
Brock McCormack, 21, entered the plea in Flathead District Court. As part of an agreement with the Flathead County Attorney’s Office, a second felony charge of assault with a weapon was dismissed.
McCormack testified that there was some type of road rage incident between the people in the other vehicle and he and his ex-girlfriend (who was driving the car he was in), and that they chased the other vehicle at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
He said he was specifically targeting that vehicle when he shot 15 to 20 BBs from the pellet gun, one of which struck a passenger in the other vehicle. McCormack said he did not know the people in the other car.
At one point, District Judge Robert Allison asked McCormack if alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident, to which McCormack replied “no alcohol.”
The attorney’s office is recommending a 10-year deferred sentence when McCormack is sentenced on Dec. 12.
