Audition for kids' murder mystery

| October 16, 2013 6:00 PM

Auditions for a Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre murder mystery are scheduled for Tuesday.

The musical play, “Oh Horrors! It’s Murder!” is open to students in grades five through 12.

Auditions take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for youths in grades five, six and seven. Students in grades eight through 12 try out from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Auditions take place at Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre’s after-school performing arts center, 833 Grand Drive.

Each student should bring a serious monologue and a humorous monologue (30 seconds each).

Casting will be very tight for this production. The program needs six boys and eight girls for the speaking roles, and about 10 to 12 students for the chorus.

The play takes place in a museum, so many of the choruspeople will be ushers and guards stationed around the auditorium throughout the show. Chorus members will carry out usher and guard duties but sing the occasional song and production number.

Those interested in trying out should plan to be there for the entire audition. Actors will do some cold readings for characters as well as the usual circle character trait audition.

Rehearsals will begin Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. There is a $40 participation fee, if cast.
