Gareth 'Gary' George Flansburg, 75

Gareth “Gary” George Flansburg, 75, passed away on Oct. 12, 2013, due to prostate cancer, at his home in Hot Springs with family by his side. 

Gary was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Box Elder, Mont., to Arden and Kathleen Flansburg.

Gary had various jobs during his life including farming, as a mechanic, and logging. The last 17 years he delivered Meals on Wheels. 

He enjoyed reading western novels, especially Louis L’Amour, watching western movies, playing his guitar and visiting with friends and family. He loved phone calls from family. He enjoyed telling jokes, drinking coffee with friends and playing pinochle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bessie Taylor; brother, Leeman Flansburg; brother-in-law, Chris Hansen; stepson, Dick Von Olnhausen; and half brothers, Daniel Flansburg, Cal Frazier and Stacy Frazier. 

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Stella Gibson Flansburg; children, Kimberly Archambeau of Kalispell, Tina Flansburg of Spokane, Gary and Helen Knutson of Highland Ranch, Colo., Gary Flansburg Jr. of Richland, Wash., Freddie and Peggy Flansburg of Kalispell, and Kelly Larson of Billings; stepdaughter, Edie and Gary Nelson of Harrison; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, especially his nephew Michael and Diane Flansburg of Post Falls, Idaho; half siblings, Deborah and Billy Decelles, Sheila and Albert Snell, Jeannie and James Madril, Nedra and Buddy Horn, Julie and Chuck Lamebull, Audrey and Roy Brown, Jim and Terri Flansburg, Laurie Johnson, Arden and Wendy Flansburg, and Lloyd Flansburg; brother-in-law, Chuck Taylor; and sister-in-law, Linda Flansburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to CNSC, P.O. Box 1311, Plains, MT 59859, Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department or Clark Fork Valley Hospice in Plains.

 A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs.
