Houston, we have a (dog) problem

A Houston Drive woman contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after a dog came into her yard and killed all of her exotic chickens. The woman said she and her husband had both tried to contact the dog’s owner, but no one would answer the door. She was not looking for compensation but was concerned because the dog seemed aggressive and was always loose.

A U.S. 93 West resident called for deputies after her dog came home and she noticed blood on the dog and BBs under its skin. The woman returned the dog to the animal shelter since the dog kept getting loose. She called again after her neighbor later admitted shooting at her dog.

A man reported two men on Lower Lost Prairie Road in Marion were standing with a gun and fired it next to him. He said he had his two children with him and the gun was fired at a spot within 20 feet of his vehicle, although he was unsure if they were shooting at his vehicle. He said the men have shot people in the past.

A pair of boys reported to be between the ages of 3 and 7 were reported walking down the side of U.S. 2 East by themselves at 10:16 a.m. Monday. A deputy picked up the boys and took them home.

A brawl outside of a West Cottonwood Drive trailer led to a call to the sheriff’s office. The caller reported her mom was screaming at a man, he hit her, her son jumped in and started hitting the man, and then several other men jumped in, but they all scattered when they realized someone was calling for deputies.

A livid Lower Valley Road man reported someone took down his no-trespassing sign and replaced it with a cow skull. In his anger, the man threw the skull into the river.

A U.S. 93 South man whose sister previously reported his garage had been burglarized called police again after finding a rather noteworthy piece of evidence — the burglar’s cellphone.

A manic motorcyclist was reported popping wheelies and turning his lights on and off on U.S. 93 South while headed into Kalispell at 7:14 p.m.

An animal control officer collected a cat from a Sirucek Lane home after it was killed in the front yard by a pair of loose dogs.

A “problem Chihuahua” was reported on Klondyke Loop in Somers.


A Kalispell Police officer separated a man and woman after they were reported sitting in chairs screaming at each other in a social services office on Financial Drive.

A pair of 50-year-old men believed to be part of a lecture convention group were reportedly fighting on the west side of a U.S. 93 South building.

An upset Second Street West resident complained that someone was putting leaves into a barbecue and creating a large amount of smoke. A responding officer reported it was a small fire in an enclosed pit with a screen.

A man reported walking down First Avenue West North screaming at things and believed to be drunk or on drugs turned out to be drunk and walking home after having just quit his job.

A South Woodland Drive man called with questions on what to do about someone slandering his name.

A family of three walked out of an East Idaho Street business without paying for their food.

A local business reported it would be moving an “extremely oversized load” at 11 a.m. Thursday, when a large freezer unit will be moved down Fifth Avenue West, Idaho Street and North Meridian Road.

Officers apprehended a pair of girls shoplifting at a First Avenue East North supermarket. One of the girls was found to be listed as a runaway. The girls were released to their parents.


A ridiculously reckless motorist was reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department after being seen driving at least 45 miles per hour down Second Avenue West in reverse.

A Talbot Road man called police to ask if he could get rid of a shed full of items left at his property by someone else a few years prior.
