A search is continuing today after Flathead County deputies and search and rescue personnel were unable to locate a 65-year-old Kalispell man who went missing Monday.

According to Sheriff Chuck Curry, an overturned kayak was recovered from the Flathead River just south of Sportsman’s Bridge on Montana 82 early Monday afternoon. The kayak was determined to belong to the man, who had reportedly gone duck hunting along the Flathead River early yesterday morning.

The man’s vehicle was located at the Sportsman fishing access, and a water, ground and air search was conducted Monday afternoon and evening, with no results.

The search is resuming this morning with the addition of side-scan sonar and search dogs.

Anyone who may have seen the man duck hunting in a bright green kayak yesterday morning is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 758-5610.
