Forecast calling for colder temperatures next week
The National Weather Service is forecasting a storm system will bring significantly cooler weather to Western Montana at the end of the week.
“While there is still considerable uncertainty in details surrounding the forecast strength and timing of this storm event, we can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that a significant cool down is in store for North Central Idaho and Western Montana,” the Weather Service said in an advisory Tuesday.
A high-pressure system currently over the Northern Rockies is expected to shift to the west, allowing a cold Canadian air mass to dive southward late Sunday and into next Monday.
High temperatures are expected to be in the 30s and lower 40s, while low temperatures could drop into the teens by Monday night, the advisory states.
