Robert I. Paul Sr., 88

| October 25, 2013 5:37 PM

Our father, Robert I. Paul Sr., 88, of Kalispell, formerly of Eddyville, Ky., “passed on to be with the saints” on Oct. 23, 2013.

Known as “RIP” to his friends, Dad is preceded in death by his parents, Asa Irving and Grace (Angel) Paul of Evansville, Ind.; brother, Lloyd Paul; sisters, Leona and Margaret; and his bride, Mona Lee “Honey” Paul, of 48 years.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Sue Waymire;  four sons, Robert I. Paul Jr. and wife Linda, Edward, Frederick and Joseph; three grandchildren, Robert III and wife Erin, Angela and Brittani; and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Colby and Aubrey Paul.

A World War II and Korean veteran, Dad retired from the Navy after 22 years and worked as an industrial electrician until his retirement. He was a volunteer for the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars driving the DAV van all over western Kentucky, as well as a member of the Masons (Scottish Rite).

Dad loved sports, outdoor activities and his beloved mountains in Montana. His neighbors in Montana remember him as a horseman, and “the nice old man on the corner who gave away eggs” from the chickens he tended up to the day of his passing. He was very generous to worthy charities. He loved to travel and between his U.S. Navy travels and retirement, saw virtually every state, every continent and all the oceans.

Our family will remember him as a devoted husband, father and patriot.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, with interment next to his wife Mona Lee following the service.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Robert’s family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to view Robert’s guest book, offer condolences and share memories.
