Driver crashes into utility pole

The Kalispell Police Department responded to Green Briar Drive after several people reported hearing a vehicle crash and roll. An officer reported the vehicle, which was found on its roof in a driveway, had sheared off a utility pole holding power lines and phone lines. The driver was transported to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Power was knocked out in the immediate area.

The recently evicted tenants of a Northern Lights Boulevard property reportedly came up with the ingenious idea of moving a couch under the fire escape to get back into the apartment.

A mother-daughter shoplifting team were caught trying to keep their crime in the family at a Hutton Ranch Road store. They were cited and released along with another girl.

A horse on too long of a tether was reported getting into traffic on First Street West.

A six-man brawl was reported outside a U.S. 93 South bar. The drunk men tried to reenter the bar after the scuffle died down, but a bartender kept them out.

A woman dressed entirely in gold was reported fighting with men outside a U.S. 93 South gas station.


Whitefish Police Department officers responded to a Central Avenue eatery after a drunk man with a knife came in and said they shouldn’t call security or things would go bad. The man then said he was going to kill himself, before officers arrived and took the very drunk man into custody.

A shocked shopper reported being harassed by a pair of transients outside a Baker Avenue grocery store, one of which had a crossbow sitting on his lap. An officer separated the caller and the transients, who he sent on their way, along with their dog.

A Baker Avenue woman was surprised by a young intruder in her home Friday morning, when she woke to see him rummaging through her bathroom before he fled out the back door.


A Second Street East resident contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after a small brown bear that appeared to be bleeding from its shoulder got into the resident’s trash. The bear’s mother was about 10 yards behind the cub.
