Myths and Messages: How many of the things you know just aren't so?

As I review the letters and opinions published in the Daily Inter Lake I am always amazed at the number of myths that continue to be expressed. A good example is the myth of global warming, which continues even though it is well known that our world is cooling and has been for some time. Even the proponents of this theory have recognized this as they have changed their mantra from “global warming” to “climate change,” knowing sooner or later the truth will come out.

The opinion that conservatives want corporations to run the country is another myth that some, apparently, think is true. Even though the Obama White House should have a sign stating “Wall Street R Us” and even though the vast majority of the rich today are liberal, and larger corporations support liberals as much or more so than conservatives, this myth continues to be proffered. Ignored is the fact that labor unions exert much more control over our national politics today that almost any other group of people (even though they, like corporations, are not “people”).

True conservatives believe corporations in particular and business in general should be regulated but not controlled by government. But their greatest fear was the joining together of big government, big business and big labor inside of a “controlled” environment headed by federal government agencies — a fear which has been fully realized now that the Obama administration has taken over.

There are many that still believe the myth that we have a free market capitalistic system which guides our country. That system has long since gone by the wayside, replaced by an ever increasing combination of “public-private” partnerships, regulatory czars and an immense proliferation of laws and administrative rules. There is very little of our economy that functions on its own without the interference of our federal and/or state governments. Cohabitating with this superstition is the belief that corporations are the ones getting all the money ignoring the fantastic payrolls and outrageous benefits our public labor unions have extorted from our political system, which far exceed anything in the private sector.

There are many more of these myths. For example, many still believe that the liberal establishment is for the poor rather than the reality wherein they just use federal money to buy votes for themselves from the uneducated and easily swayed general population. Lots of people believe the myth that Obamacare was about health instead of absolute government control over our citizenry. Also, they believe abortion is about women’s rights. They believe more dollars will help the educational system. They embrace the notion that Islam is a peaceful political system that we can coexist with while ignoring the wholesale murder of Christians in Egypt and most of Africa.

They think that George Bush was conservative. They have been deluded to believe our private sector economy is recovering because of the actions of the Federal Reserve. And they have been lulled into a sense of safety by those who believe our massive accumulated debt as a country will not have dire consequences in the future. In addition, many believe the propaganda expressed by our government that we do not have any inflation, even though gas and food prices, taxes, and health-care costs have risen so dramatically in the last four years.

I have even seen some proffer the idea that our country is prospering under the ideals of secular humanism when in reality our moral and physical underpinnings are delaminating at an extremely fast pace. The advocacy of our government, our judges and our educational system requiring the formal acceptance of the lifestyles of homosexuals and transgenders is a clear example of how far we have degenerated in recent decades.

The believers in these myths believe we can bring millions of illegal aliens to this country who do not embrace the ideals of America without further damaging our national psyche, not to mention the financial condition of America as a whole.

Finally, one of the most damaging myths circulating is that there still exists racism by whites towards minorities when the exact opposite is nearer to the truth. Blacks have their own universities, business affiliates and entertainment stations not to mention their own caucus in Congress. Latinos have their separate groups and, of course, Indians categorize themselves solely based on race. Reverse racism is the “new normal.”

It’s hard to believe the number of myths in our world today. Many more could be listed. But the question never asked is why these aberrant ideas are proffered as truth by our government and echoed by most of the left and their ever faithful companions, the left-leaning news sources of today. As I have investigated this question I have been led to the inevitable conclusion that most, if not all, of these myths are incorporated inside of a political philosophy which, at its core, cannot abide the American ideal or the Constitution that expresses it.

Instead there is a cohesive belief by many of our power-brokers today that we must move on toward socialism and, ultimately, a “world government” headed by the United Nations. To accomplish this goal they must continue to sap the moral fiber and energy from the United States because of our core constitutional philosophy wherein governments should only exist to protect the rights of the individual. Such a belief cannot coexist with the desire of those who believe in absolute federal and eventually world government control of virtually everything that goes on.

There exists no question about the change occurring in our society today as Democrats continue to “transform” our country into a socialistic nation. Unfortunately it appears many in the Republican Party are not terribly concerned with this trend, and many even embrace the notion of “global governance.” Certainly most Republicans appear, at best, apathetic or non-engaged across our state and nation.

One of the few groups which is actively educating themselves and actively engaging in the fight against the forces (and political parties) out to destroy the very essence of our society is the Tea Party. Where would our country be today without this group? That they have made a difference is obvious. Just look at how the press in general tries to portray them!

The Tea Party has frustrated those who are anxious to drag us into socialism and world governance by expressing belief in the core principles our country was founded on. If you want to escape the tyranny of the press today, if you want to educate yourself about the reality of what is really going on and if you want to join the fight to preserve our country, I suggest you join the Tea Party and support their efforts on a national and local level. It appears to be our country’s only hope for the future.
