Feedback sought on Whitefish Trail
An update on the Whitefish Trail system will be shared with the public at a meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday at Whitefish City Hall.
The city of Whitefish, Whitefish Legacy Partners and the Whitefish Trail Operations Committee are asking for feedback and comments on Lion Mountain, Skyles, Lupfer, Beaver Lakes, Swift Creek, and Woods Lake trails. If participants do not feel comfortable speaking at the meeting, written comments will be accepted.
The public also may email comments to parksadm@cityofwhitefish.org if they are unable to attend the meeting.
The Whitefish Trail is a user-supported system providing more than 25 miles of natural surface trails located in a forested, rural environment popular for mountain biking, hiking and equestrian use. The trail system is comprised of stacked loops, scenic overlooks, single-track trail and gated logging roads.
The latest addition include a new section of trail with a scenic overlook of Whitefish Lake served by a new trailhead at Woods Lake, which opened in September.
The Whitefish Trail is a collaborative effort with Whitefish Legacy Partners, the city of Whitefish, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Montana State Parks, a division of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Flathead County, U.S. Forest Service, Flathead Land Trust, private landowners, many local volunteers and annual donations by Whitefish Trail Friends and Family.
