Potter offers clay classes at Stumptown Art Studio
Stumptown Art Studio’s resident potter Stephanie Seguin will be hosting a series of clay classes for adults during the month of November.
Six clay classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during the first three weeks of the month from 6 to 8 p.m.
Seguin will cover both intermediate and advanced levels of working in clay, both in hand building and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Both levels of students will be working on improving skills, execution, control and artistic thought.
Advanced students will work individually with the instructor to create specific lessons based on their interests and desires as clay artists.
The clay room at Stumptown Art Studio is well-equipped with a kiln, which is fired to cone 6, pottery wheels, a slab roller, an extruder and all of the small tools needed. The $175 fee ($160 for members) includes all materials and clay co-op use to work on their projects.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics in 2009, Seguin has worked in various studios, gaining experience and exploring new styles in her personal work. Her work can be seen at Stumptown Art Studio, at 145 Central Ave., Whitefish.
