The case of the blood-stained car
A shocked woman contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after finding blood all over the hood of her car and down the passenger-side door. The woman said she was unsure whose blood it was or how it got there.
An unknown burglar damaged a Pepsi machine and stole a cash box from a Montana 35 business in Bigfork, but the mystery thief may have been caught on video committing the crime.
A man who moved from the Canyon to Washington called to report that he had warrants in Flathead County he wanted to take care of so he could come back. He also said he is a violent offender and not registered in Montana.

A meandering motorist left behind more than damage when driving over a South Hilltop Road mailbox in Columbia Falls. In addition to ripping the mailbox off its foundation and totally destroying it, the motorist left behind part of the vehicle’s undercarriage.
A pushy panhandler was reported standing on U.S. 2 East and jumping in front of stopped vehicles with a cardboard sign reading “$45 for a blade.” The man, who was acting very strange and may have been on drugs, was trying to buy a knife. He was advised to move along and put his sign away.
An Evergreen man reported someone stole his checkbook and cashed three checks, and that he suspected his cleaning lady.
A Harbin Hill Road man reported someone stole his front license plate.
A Bigfork woman reported someone stole her birth certificate.
A woman who called in about police activity took the opportunity to share her criticism of the Kalispell Police Department. She initially called with questions about three police cars in the area with lights on, and she was advised it was a traffic stop. At that point she became belligerent, saying she wished there had been that many officers in the area when her stuff was stolen. She then hung up.
Officers were unable to make contact with a Windward Way tenant after a passerby reported seeing a small child who kept peeking out of a second-story window. The passerby was afraid the child might fall out.
A woman who tried on a pair of shoes at a U.S. 93 North store was reported to police when she walked out of the store with the shoes still on her feet.
An Appleway Drive resident complained that the speaker on the patio of a U.S. 2 West bar was too loud and blared every night, but an officer at the same apartment building said the music could not be heard.
Explosions reported on top of the roof of a Glenwood Drive building turned out to be construction noise.
A distraught man reported he checked his credit card and discovered someone had charged nearly $18,000 worth of merchandise to it in Georgia.
A man reported looking through windows with a flashlight on Second Street West turned out to be a custodian at the building, walking around to make sure all the windows were shut.
Whitefish Police officers responded to Baker Avenue after a man pulled a gun on another man during an argument
A very small bear cub was reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department after it was seen wandering between Railway Street and the railroad tracks. The bear eventually headed back toward the river.
A pair of children were chased down Sixth Avenue West by a pair of aggressive Rottweilers.
An RV park resident complained that the music coming from a Nucleus Avenue bar was very loud.
