Voices of the Wilderness auction slated for Nov. 8

| October 31, 2013 10:48 AM

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation hosts its seventh annual Voices of the Wilderness art exhibit and silent auction Nov. 8.

The event takes place at the Alpine Ballroom, located at 333 Main St., Kalispell. It starts at 7 p.m.

Voices of the Wilderness is an art exhibit, silent auction and fundraiser highlighting participants of Artist-Wilderness-Connection, an artist-in-residence program coordinated by the Flathead National Forest, Hockaday Museum of Art and Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.

Musical guests Spring Wagon String Band will play old-time Appalachian bluegrass.

Insights into the Artist-Wilderness-Connection experience will be illustrated through a video documentary. “The Logan-Dirtyface Sessions” is a video presentation created by Mandy Mohler during her artist-in-residency experience alongside Josh Harvey and Bettreena Jaeger, who created musical and photographic elements respectively. The group’s collective art is all inspired by their time spent at the Spruce Park Cabin in the Great Bear Wilderness.

Tickets are $15 and include one free drink and dessert as well as entry to the auction and presentation portion of the evening. Tickets to either or both portions of the evening can be purchased online at www.bmwf.org/events.html or at the door.

Space is limited, so guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

Auction items include oil and watercolor paintings, photography, pottery, leatherwork, fabric art, handmade jewelry, cast iron and more. A five-day pack trip with Swan Mountain Outfitters is the grand prize raffle item.

Proceeds from this event help the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation keep trails open in the Bob and help to strengthen the next generation of wilderness stewards by getting youths into the woods.
