Whitefish bars host Halloween costume contest

Once again, participating downtown Whitefish bars have teamed up to sponsor the annual Halloween costume contest.

The bars have ponied up $1,500 to be awarded in cash prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for best individual costume and best couple or group costume. Cash prizes in each category are:

• First place — $350

• Second place — $250

• Third place — $100

• Fourth place — $50

There is a $5 per person entry fee, with all proceeds benefiting the Whitefish Food Bank.

Starting at 6 p.m. and concluding at 9 p.m., sharp, contestants must visit the judges at all nine participating bars: The Bulldog, The Remington, Cooper’s, the Great Northern Bar, Great Northern Brewing Co., the VFW, Crush, Casey's and The Craggy Range Bar & Grill. 

Contestants may register at any of the nine participating bars, and then take their judging card to be validated at the remaining venues. Contestants with completed judging cards should then report to the Craggy Range Bar and Grill by 9:30 p.m. for the awarding of prizes. 

Contestants must be at least 21 years old. An ID will be required. All city laws and ordinances, including the open container law, must be observed.
