YWAM dance department stages 'Edison Effect'

| October 31, 2013 10:34 AM

Thomas Edison experimented for a long time before he perfected the light bulb, which revolutionized the world. The performing artists of the “Edison Effect” concert were inspired by this concept as they began creating and collaborating together.

These artists — Simon Nicol, Kate Espy and Andrea Shank — chose to combine music and dance to challenge our everyday preconceived ideas.

Nicol, of the band LEAVA, is the lead musician and composer. Originally from the Denver area, he moved to the Flathead Valley to further pursue his passion for music. Espy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance from Goucher College in Baltimore. She is the director of the dance department at Youth With A Mission in Lakeside and teaches at the Lakeside Dance Studio. Shank is from Northeast Oregon. Her dance experience includes physical theater, partner work and international performance.

The performance dates for “Edison Effect” are Nov. 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. at the YWAM Student Center, 501 Blacktail Road, Lakeside.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
