Banana thief makes getaway in Cadillac

A man stole a banana from a store on U.S. 93, according to the Whitefish Police Department. When confronted by an employee and asked to pay for the pilfered fruit, the man locked eyes with the worker and took a bite out of the banana, then left the scene in a gold Cadillac with Alaskan plates without paying.

Police received a complaint about a large semi truck unloading vehicles in the middle of U.S. 93. The caller needed to turn but the truck was taking up the whole turn lane. 

A caller on Woodland Place bought an item using a credit card but the person in possession of that item would not give it to her.

A caller on Central Avenue reported a “preacher guy” yelling at customers and driving away business. 

An intoxicated woman standing behind a bar on Central Avenue waved down an officer to ask for a cab. 

A hotel on U.S. 93 reported a man trying to get into a room. The man, wearing a white “I Heart Whitefish” T-shirt, was intoxicated and forgot his companion’s number.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made two DUI arrests, one on U.S. 93 at North Reservoir Road, the other an aggravated DUI near mile marker 54.

The Polson Police Department arrested a person on 7th Street for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a call from an exasperated resident on Talbot Road complaining about his neighbor’s dog barking its head off and keeping him awake.

A red truck was driving erratically and nearly sideswiped the reporting party’s vehicle while driving on U.S. 2.

A young man was spotted walking down Fourth Avenue holding a rifle.

A woman reported that her daughter-in-law’s house on 10th Street West looked like it was broken into. The garage door was wide open and the garbage cans were spilled out into the driveway. 

A caller on Ruder View Court heard a woman screaming and beating on a door demanding to be let inside. It was just a verbal argument between the woman and her ex-husband. The two were separated.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Creekwood Drive. 

Small brush fires were responded to by the Marion and Smith Valley fire departments.
