GREAT FALLS — Flathead and Glacier opened the Class AA volleyball season Saturday by sweeping the Great Falls schools.

Flathead defeated Great Falls High and C.M. Russell by 3-0 scores.

Glacier stopped Great Falls High 3-0 and C.M. Russell 3-1.

Timi Severson totaled 10 kills in the match with CMR and nine versus Great Falls.

Lizzie Sherwood added seven kills in the CMR outing and Emma Andrews had 11 against Great Falls High.

“All day long I thought our defense made a huge difference for us,” Flathead coach Leon Wilcox said. “CMR couldn’t put a ball down against us, hardly. Our service was outstanding for this early in the year. That’s encouraging. We only gave up one ace against Great Falls High.”

“Lizzie is pretty seasoned as a sophomore. I feel like we’re pretty solid all around.”
