Car seat is point of contention

Columbia Falls Police got a call Sunday from a mother on Nucleus Avenue who said her estranged husband refused to give her a car seat for her 3-year-old daughter when she was picking the girl up.

After a traffic stop near a bar on U.S. 2 west of town, the driver fled the scene on foot. The man was believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident earlier and law enforcement was looking for him on multiple other traffic violations.

Whitefish Police got a report Sunday about a bicycle being stolen from a Kalispell Avenue residence. The caller said another bike was stolen from the same residence about a month ago but it wasn’t reported.

There was a report of items being stolen from a lobby at a hotel on Columbia Avenue.

An iPod was reported stolen out of a vehicle on Kalispell Avenue.

A woman calling from a Colorado Avenue residence said her grandson’s scooter was stolen by a boy who lives nearby.

Early Monday, at about 3 a.m., a person calling from a motel on U.S. 93 South said there was an intoxicated man pounding on the door and threatening to burn the motel down. The man eventually left.
