Golf: Glacier's Avery 3rd at Butte Invite golf

BUTTE — Teigan Avery of Glacier opened the Butte High School Invitational golf tournament on Thursday with an 82, which was the third-best round of the day.

Avery is four shots off the pace set by Hailey Hoagland of Butte.

Avery was the lone golfer, boys and girls, from Flathead and Glacier to crack the top 10.

The Glacier boys, led by Cody Sherrill’s and Scott Larson’s 79s, were seventh in the team standings.

Flathead, sitting 13th, was led by Ryan Keenan’s 81.

In girls play, Flathead is 11th with Glacier in the 12th spot.

Jenna Jensen had the best round for Flathead with her 99.

The tournament wraps up today.
