Woman reports reckless rafting bus

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Wednesday from a woman who claimed she and her horse had been hit by a rafting bus on Lake Five Road.

A woman calling from Silver Leaf Drive reported that a man, presumably her boyfriend, had been beating her. The matter is under investigation.

There was a burglary on U.S. 2 East of Kalispell involving the theft of cherries, tools and a pistol.

A man calling from Wishart Road said his son stole tools and coins and pawned them.

There was a report of a highly intoxicated man abandoning a vehicle on East Edgewood Drive.

A motorist reported witnessing two men having a fight in a moving vehicle in the Somers area. When the vehicle stopped, one man got out of the vehicle and walked away.

There was a report of a suspicious man trying to sell carpet cleaners door to door in the South Hilltop Road area near Columbia Falls. The man was also said to be looking in mailboxes.

Several people reported seeing a man lying along Conrad Drive wearing nothing but swim trunks.

There was a report of a disorderly man tipping over picnic tables and refusing to leave a private property on Shady Lane. A deputy assisted the man in leaving at the property owner’s request.

A woman calling from U.S. 93 South of Kalispell said a man identifying himself as a firefighter responding to a nearby structure fire drove his truck through her gate, causing about $400 in damage.

At about 11:15 p.m., a woman said her ex-boyfriend trashed the inside of her vehicle and broke out windows when she broke up with him and dropped him off at a Plentywood Drive residence.


Kalispell Police got a report Wednesday about a transient sleeping in a parking lot behind a business on U.S. 93 South.

A woman calling from Fifth Avenue East said her friend threatened to have her father hurt the reporting party if the two women didn’t reconcile their friendship.

A woman calling from South Main Street reported witnessing a woman get punched in the face by a man. When the two were located, however, there were no signs of physical contact.

There  was a report of a disturbance between a man and a woman on Third Avenue East. At one point the woman was throwing the man’s belongings out of a window.

Someone calling from Whitefish Stage Road reported the theft of a mountain bike from a bike rack at a school.

Early Thursday, at about 1 a.m., there was a report of two individuals trying to enter vacant rooms at a hotel on U.S. 93 South.

A person calling from Northridge Drive reported that sometime overnight a vehicle knocked down a tree, and parts of the vehicle remained at the scene.

There was a report of a pistol stolen from an unlocked vehicle on U.S. 93 South.

A man was cited for shoplifting from a store on U.S. 93 North.


Whitefish Police got a report Thursday at about 2:30 a.m. from a woman who said her boyfriend beat her up at a location on U.S. 93 South. The woman and the boyfriend ended up getting arrested for partner/family member assault.


Columbia Falls Police got a report Thursday about windows shot out of a store on Ninth Street West.

There was a report of five boys fighting with one another on Diane Road. The boys were counseled by an officer.

Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a store on Nucleus Avenue.


At one point Thursday morning, Flathead Electric Cooperative was reporting about 1,800 customers were without power due to a wind and lightning storm.
