Rash of thefts on Tamarack Lane

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got multiple reports Thursday about thefts from vehicles on Tamarack Lane.

A garage and two vehicles were broken into, with hunting items stolen. Another resident reported her vehicle was broken into, with $12, a diet Coke and possibly a wedding a band stolen. Another resident said someone got onto her property and rummaged through her vehicles. Another said several vehicles had been ransacked, but nothing appeared to be stolen, and another resident said a GPS and some tools were stolen from vehicles.

Two masonry saws valued at about $1,300 apiece were reported stolen from the back of a truck at shop on Capistrano Drive.

A four-wheeler, a wave runner and a flatbed trailer were reported stolen from a Fourth Avenue South residence in Hungry Horse.

There was a report of an intoxicated hitchhiker stumbling into traffic on U.S. 2 in the West Glacier area.

A Blacktail Road resident reported seeing a “Russian helicopter” painted black with a red star flying over his property.

A motorist calling from Swan Hill Drive in the Bigfork area said every time he drives home at night, he approaches a curve and a man jumps out in front of his vehicle telling him to slow down.

A man and woman were having an argument at the train depot in West Glacier after they had been kicked off the Amtrak train. They ended up going to camp at Apgar.

Early Friday, at about 1:40 a.m., deputies were involved in a slow-speed pursuit of a suicidal man driving a disabled car. The man, who was in contact with dispatchers, said he was not going to pull over, but two tires were blown on the vehicle after it struck spike strips. The man ended up pulling off at a bar on Montana 206, and he was taken to the Kalispell hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Friday afternoon, a boat reportedly capsized near Wayfarers State Park, but all people on board ended up safe.


Kalispell Police got a report Thursday from a man who said he was assaulted by another man in a West Idaho Street parking lot, after a road rage confrontation. 

Items were stolen from a garage on Ford Way.

There was a report from U.S. 93 South regarding a 17-year-old son stealing a flat-screen television from his mother and driving a car without permission.

There was a report of open flames appearing under a bus on Northwest Lane, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

A man claimed that while he was in a grocery store on Third Avenue East North, someone siphoned about 20 gallons from a gas tank on his truck and left the gas cap off.

Early Friday, at about 1:45 a.m., a woman calling from East Arizona Street said she saw two men go through a car. The men were located and hauled in for questioning.

A bicycle was reported stolen from a location U.S. 93 South.

A woman calling from Summit Ridge Drive said she was walking her dog Thursday evening when she encountered a man on a bicycle who was masturbating. When he turned around and came back toward her, she yelled at him and he rode off.

A Sixth Avenue West resident reported finding a man trespassing in a backyard, eating plums. The reporting party told him to leave, and he did.


Whitefish Police got a complaint Thursday from a resident at a Colorado Avenue apartment complex about a 9-year-old boy who keeps coming into the complex and stealing things from residents.

There was a report of an assault involving two men at a store on U.S. 93 South.

An East Arizona Street resident reported seeing suspicious men going through a car in the neighborhood.

Early Friday, at about 3 a.m., a newspaper delivery person reported seeing a woman lying in the road at Edgewood Place. The reporting party suspected she had been drinking and had fallen.


Columbia Falls Police got a report Thursday from Ninth Street West business regarding a suspicious man wearing a cowboy hat who said his hands were busted up and he needed medical attention. The man, who had been seen by people the previous day, ended up wandering off, only to be found passed out at another Ninth Street West business. He was told to go to a nearby park and sober up.

The owner of an RV Park on U.S. 2 East said he kicked a man out of the park, but the man was refusing to leave. The man eventually left.

A person calling from Martha Road said there was a young woman who had nearly been run over by a truck driven by a man who was upset that she wouldn’t get in the truck.

There was a report of a disruptive, intoxicated man who wanted to move into a place on Meadow Lake Boulevard but was told that he can’t move in until this weekend.
