Richard Arvid 'Dick' Johnson, 69
Dick passed away on July 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, due to complications after heart surgery.
He was born on July 20, 1943, at Sacred Heart Hospital to Andrew G. Johnson and Lora Jean (England) Johnson.
When he was 2 years old the family moved back home to Whitefish.
He graduated with the Class of ‘62.
Dick worked on the railroad for his dad, and then he went and joined the National Guard.
He came home and started his truck driving jobs with Johnny Jump and a few others. He worked for Pack River, Yellowstone and finally with Fairchild. While he was with Yellowstone he received three awards for accident-free driving. Three million miles and counting of accident-free driving is something to be proud of and brag about. One thing you can say is that Dick was one damn good driver!
Dick had been to all of the states but one, only because he couldn’t drive there.
“He was very much loved and we will all miss him.”
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; and his grandson, Killian Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Johnson; his children, Delenna Smith and husband Scott, Kellie Johnson, Steve Moser and wife Emmy, Sonja Christensen, and Tim England; sisters, Cheryl Frye and husband Bill, and Rhonda Johnson and Karla; brothers, Darryl Johnson and wife Cina, Lane Johnson and wife Lynn, and Ron Johnson and wife Lori; best friend, Jerry Grenz and wife Lavonne; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the Methodist Church in Whitefish.
