Woman causes trouble in the canyon
Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies dealt with a trio of calls involving the same woman, first in Hungry Horse and then in Martin City.
At 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, the woman was reported driving her father’s vehicle despite not having a driver’s license. She was stopped by a deputy, who cited her for driving without a valid driver’s license and also told her she needed to pick up paperwork from the sheriff’s office regarding a restraining order against her.
At 7:02 p.m., the woman was reported for beating up her mother. A follow-up call came in 10 minutes later from a neighbor who said the woman was yelling out her window and threatening to come down to the neighbor’s house and beat her up, too.
A group of young children were enthralled when they witnessed a trio of bear cubs crossing South Hilltop Road in Columbia Falls and climbing a tree. The cubs moved on after the children did.
A pair of deer-loving Labradors reportedly chase the animals every day in the area of Westwood Lane.
Screaming, yelling, lots of traffic and statements overheard about someone wanting money led to a report of a possible drug house on Parliament Drive, as well as allegations of child abuse at the home.

A drunken man was reportedly intimidating passersby, cursing and yelling, until a woman stopped and picked him up.
According to scanner traffic, a motorist struck a boy between 10 and 12 years old at the intersection of Grandview Drive and U.S. 93. The boy was reported to be conscious and sitting on the side of the road, while the motorist immediately pulled over and stopped.
The Bigfork Fire Department responded to Bigfork Elementary School after a 9-year-old child fell from the monkey bars. The child lost consciousness for at least a minute but recovered and only complained of being dizzy.
Whitefish Police officers arrested a man after he refused to leave a Central Avenue bar.
An observant passerby reported a truck pulling a boat trailer on U.S. 93 South that was dragging an axle, sending up smoke.
A Columbia Falls Police officer had to counsel a Nucleus Avenue bartender about alcohol service laws after a man was escorted out of the bar and then began throwing himself into the front doors, trying to get back in.
An officer helped direct some lost tourists on Veteran Drive in the right direction.
The ALERT helicopter was called out to Fern Lane after a 71-year-old woman fell down a flight of stairs at her home. She was reportedly coughing up blood and wheezing as she was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
