Anne Schmidt, 68

Anne Schmidt passed away peacefully in Kalispell on Sept. 9, 2013, at the age of 68, from complications of cancer. 

For the last two decades, Anne served as a CNA at Immanuel Skilled Care Center in Kalispell, where she was highly regarded for her extraordinary kindness, compassion and dedication to the care and well-being of patients, residents and co-workers. 

Anne devoted her entire life to hard work, and service to her family, friends and acquaintances. All who knew Anne admired her exceptional selflessness, concern for others, wisdom and humor.  

Anne was born Martha Anne Donahue on May 5, 1945, in Glasgow. She attended schools in Omaha, Neb., Grand Forks, N.D., and Lincoln, Neb.  She graduated high school in Rapid City, S.D., married Carl Martin, and  together they had a son, Shawn, and daughter, Carrie. After her first husband was killed in Vietnam, she married Don Schmidt in 1968 in South Dakota, and she became a mother again to Jessica and Scott. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie; husband, Carl Martin; husband, Don Schmidt; father, Edward Donahue; and brothers, Edward and Wayne Donahue. 

She is survived by her sons, Shawn Schmidt and Scott Schmidt; and daughter, Jessica Kampf; and grandchildren, Taylor Kampf, Ashley Kampf and Cassie Kenyon. She is also survived by her mother, Lucille Donahue; sisters, Rita Donahue and Linda Sanborn; and brother, Paul Donahue.

A memorial service and tribute to Anne's spirit and life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Immanuel Skilled Care Center in Kalispell.
