Football: Belgrade hands Bulldogs 1st loss

BELGRADE — Whitefish rallied late, but a pair of missed extra points doomed the Bulldogs comeback in a 21-19 nonconference loss to Belgrade on Saturday.

Belgrade (2-1) stormed out to a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter to set the tone on its homecoming night. Whitefish (2-1) was finally able to get on the board with 17 seconds left in the half, with Luke May punching in a 1-yard touchdown to close the lead to 21-7.

Sean Foley returned an interception 45 yards to cut the lead to one score in the third quarter, but a missed extra point kick left the Bulldogs trailing by eight points.

Calub Thilmony scored for Whitefish on a 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter but the 2-point conversion pass to tie the game was tipped away.
