Football roundup: Sandry leads Bigfork by Florence

BIGFORK — Josh Sandry scored two touchdowns, including a 72-yard punt return to lead No. 5 Bigfork (2-0) to a 20-0 beating of Florence (0-2) on Friday night.

Sandry was 7 of 15 passing for 67 yards but lit up the night with his legs, scoring twice in the first half, on a 3-yard run in the second quarter and the return four minutes earlier.

Boyd Rieke plugged in the final score for the Vikings in the fourth quarter. Rieke had 21 carries for 95 yards in the contest.

“I’m proud of the way the kids played, they’re gritty,” Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said.

“I think we made some steps. We got a little better from last week, but we’ve got a long way to go to get where we want to be. They’re out there learning the varsity game. It’s fun to watch.”

Hamilton 24, Libby 21

HAMILTON — Jared Winslow threw a pair of touchdown passes and Nic Robertson scored on a 1-yard run, but it wasn’t quite enough to give Libby its first victory of the Class A season.

Winslow was 14 of 23 passing for 166 yards. He was intercepted twice.

Winslow added 82 yards rushing on 24 attempts.

Winslow hit Josh Bowers on a 13-yard touchdown strike with just under a minute left.

Josh Bauder threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to pace Hamilton. He was 19 of 28 passing for 371 yards.

Libby (0-3) plays at Stevensville on Friday.

CORVALLIS — Andrew Weltz had touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards, Brady Hislop ran 10 yards for a touchdown and Jacob Clairmont scored from 3 yards out as Polson whipped Corvallis in Class A nonconference play.

Polson (1-1) scored 28-straight points.
