Missoula runners win Two Bear marathon in record times
WHITEFISH — Missoula runners Anna Zielaski and Austin Allen posted course-record times for women and men at the Two Bear Marathon on Sunday.
Zielaski crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 38 minutes and 29.6 seconds. She averaged 8:20 per mile. Allen’s time was 3:18:05.7. He averaged 7:34 per mile.
Justin Barth of West Glacier placed second overall with a time of 3:18:57.7 (7:36 per mile).
Three women finished under four hours while 10 men broke that barrier, including Stuart Reiswig of Polebridge, who was eighth in 3:55:49.7, and Mark Tarr of Columbia Falls, who was ninth in 3:57:35.5.
Carrie Johnson of Bigfork placed fifth on the women’s side with a time of 4:04:03. Whitefish’s Becky Middleton was sixth in 4:09:52.8 and Kelly Hamilton of Columbia Falls came in ninth in 4:18:42.2.
The Two Bear Half Marathon winners were Niki Dezzani of Columbia Falls, with a time of 1:36:05.58, and Jim Rucker of Whitefish in 1:19:56.78.
Kayleen Uibel of Kalispell finished second to Dezzani with a time of 1:41:02.65. Kelly Redfield of Kalispell was third, 1:43:29.93.
Also placing in the top five for men were Russell Skelton of Kalispell, third in 1:27:40.03, and Myers Reece of Kalispell, fifth in 1:33:41.25.
Thirty-eight women and 44 men finished the marathon. In in the half marathon, it was 134 women and 75 men.
