A young female grizzly bear recently was captured at Spotted Bear and relocated to Whale Creek in the North Fork Flathead River drainage.

Tim Manley, a grizzly bear management specialist with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, captured the bear after it got into an open vehicle for food.

The bear originally was captured several years ago as a cub along with an adult female and a sibling near Coram, where they were getting into apples.

Manley urges people living in potential bear country to secure food attractants, including picking apples as soon as they are ripe. As fall progresses, bears will be seeking high-calorie foods to prepare for hibernation.
