Fox Street Allstars bring funky blues to Crush
Make no mistake: The Fox Street Allstars reek of the roadhouses and West Texas honky tonks of the Deep South that inspired the band’s signature sound.
The Fox Street Allstars bring their roadhouse blues — interwoven with super-sized helpings of funk with elements of rock, soul and jazz — to Crush in Whitefish Oct. 6. The concert starts at 9 p.m.
After hitting 20 Southeastern markets in 24 nights in October 2012, Fox Street Allstars returned home to Colorado where they promptly sold out their end-of-the-year show. The band also sold out its New Year’s Eve show in Jackson, Wyo.
The band released its sophomore album, “Tough Talk,” in February. “Tough Talk” was recorded over the summer of 2012 at Scanhope Sound in Littleton, Colo., and was engineered by Josh Fairman (New Mastersounds, Ivan Neville, Kinetix). The album features Joe Tatton of The New Mastersounds on organ, pedal steel by Grammy winner John Macy and The Black Swans on backup vocals.
“It’s been an incredible last two years" lead singer Jonathan “Skippy” Huvard said. "This second album has been a long time in the making, and we’re very proud of the results. We think it has a more mature and full sound and is a terrific reflection of where we are now as a band.”
