Random cannon shots reported

An unusual occurrence led to a call to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after a 2- to 3-inch steel mortar came through the back of a property and almost injured an employee. The property owner reported a neighbor was throwing a party and has a cannon he shoots off randomly.

A Helena Flats Road resident had to rush a dog to an emergency veterinary clinic after reporting it was shot by the neighbor. The dog later died. The resident, who did not witness the shot but heard gunshots immediately after the dog ran onto the neighbor’s property, said the suspect had shot toward his house in the past and he was now worried for his family’s safety.

A Farm to Market Road man reported his now-ex-girlfriend to police after breaking up with her, asking her to leave the house, and then returning to find his things missing and the house torn apart. He told police she packed up a bunch of his stuff in boxes and left the boxes in the rain overnight.

A pair of peckish pit bulls was reported on U.S. 93 South in Lakeside after they chased away a resident’s cats and then ate all the cat food. The neighbor was advised on county ordinances and said she would bring the resident a bag of cat food to replace what her dogs ate.

A man who had just been released from prison reported returning to his camper to find it had been forcefully entered, everything had been gone through, and many items were missing.

A Shady Lane man was reported for threatening people for warming up their vehicles in the morning, telling one person he “was going to take him up north and bury him.”

The Kalispell Police Department received a pair of reports of screaming women on First Avenue West North and First Avenue West, the former for “screaming for her life” in an argument, and the latter for singing and screaming along with music.

A man on a train to Minnesota reported he received a call from his girlfriend, who reported his ex-girlfriend was at his house. He told police the ex-girlfriend texted him to say she got into the house through a dog door. A responding officer removed her from the house, and the man chose not to pursue charges.

An employee of a Third Avenue West business reported a person brought in a bag of CDs during a supervised visit, and a marijuana bud was found inside the bag.

A 10th Avenue West man’s report that an unknown man called his phone and asked the resident to sell him his daughter for a pistol turned out to be miscommunication between both men.

A trio of dark-clad junior-high-age boys were reported putting a razor blade under the tire of a car on West Idaho Street. The razor blade was found and removed before the vehicle was moved, preventing any damage.

A passerby reported someone dealing drugs out of the back of a sport-utility vehicle in a North Main Street parking lot, with people walking up and getting baggies of an unknown substance out of the vehicle. A responding officer reported he did not witness any drug activity while watching the vehicles.

The Whitefish Police Department was unable to locate a man, believed to be armed and dangerous, who had been involved in a domestic dispute and had run over the foot and ankle of another man with his vehicle on Central Avenue.

A woman reported witnessing a verbal disturbance in a Central Avenue bar that she believes was a kidnapping.

A belligerent woman using obscenities was removed from a train.
