Actors needed for 'Oliver!'

| September 25, 2013 6:00 PM

Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions for its winter production of “Oliver!” Sunday.

Auditions take place at the O’Shaughnessy Center, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish. Tryouts start at 4 p.m. for children ages 7 to 14, and at 7:30 p.m. for age 15 and older. All actors are asked to arrive early to the green room to fill out an application packet and review the script.

Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!” brings to life Charles Dickens’ timeless characters with its ever popular story of the boy who asks for more. The Artful Dodger, Fagin, Nancy and Oliver himself whisk audiences away to 1800s London with song and dance and a story that keeps all ages on the edge of their seats.

The show is combined with outstanding musical numbers to create an enduring evening of entertainment.

The cast will be made up of 20 to 25 adults and up to 10 children. No experience is necessary to audition.

Pages from the script will be provided. All participants will be taught 16 bars of a song from the show.

Rebecca Schaffer is the director for this production, with Suzie Wambeke acting as assistant director.

Total time commitment is about nine weeks of rehearsal. Rehearsals will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Younger children not cast as leads may be released by 8:30 p.m.

Pickup rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays between show weekends.

There are seven performances over three weekends. The show runs Dec. 5 through 8, 13 through 15 and 20 through 22.
