Prep football roundup: Bigfork blows by Shelby
SHELBY — Fourth-ranked Bigfork (4-0) scored in every quarter en route to an easy 46-14 Class B nonconference football win over Shelby on Friday night.
Quarterback Josh Sandry led a balanced attack, throwing three touchdown passes while Boyd Rieke, 142 yards on 19 carries, had touchdown runs of 5, 5 and 10 yards.
Sandry was 8 of 13 passing for 222 yards. Bigfork outgained Shelby in total yards, 518-264.
Bigfork’s Isaac Martel had two receptions for 103 yards and Cameron Nissen had three catches for 90 yards and two scores — 33 and 29 yards.
Vinny Quirk also rushed for 108 yards on 14 attempts for Bigfork. He scored on a 23-yard jaunt and an 8-yard pass from Sandry.
“I feel like we’ve taken a couple steps forward the last couple of weeks,” Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said.
“We’re looking forward to district play.”

THOMPSON FALLS — Eureka (3-1) opened District 7B play with a convincing victory over Thompson Falls (1-3).
Cole Jankowsky, 14 carries for 83 yards, opened the scoring with an 8-yard run.
Quarterback Austin Perez, 6 of 23 passing for 98 yards and one touchdown, also ran for a score.
Thompson Falls quarterback Greg Wadsworth, 21 of 42, threw for 195 yards.

POLSON — Polson quarterback Andrew Weltz ran for two scores and threw for another as Polson dropped Frenchtown in the Northwestern A opener for both schools.
Weltz was 7 of 12 passing for 111 yards and rushed 23 times for 118 yards. Polson totaled 317 yards on the ground on 48 attempts.
Brady Hislop, 14 carries for 131 yards, scored on a 4-yard run and had two extra-point kicks.
Polson’s Cedrick Smith had five receptions for 53 yards.
Frenchtown rolled up 357 yards rushing on 54 attempts. Cody Lemons, who scored two touchdowns, had 221 yards on 26 carries. Gus Butler added 118 yards on 24 attempts and scored once.
Frenchtown lost three fumbles, with two setting up scores for Polson (3-1, 1-).
“Both teams ran the ball very well,” Polson coach Scott Wilson said.
“It was nice for us to get the rushing game going. The difference of the game is we won the turnover battle.”

Dylon Lane had 14- and 16-yard touchdown receptions. Isaak Jones had the other touchdown catch — 35 yards — for Libby (1-4).
