Clinic attack must be fully prosecuted

As we have all observed from 9/11, jihadists are intent on destroying communities that don’t share their singular vision. But healthy communities are made up of many points of view, which is why I understand and respect both points of view on the emotional abortion issue.

However, the physical and personal destruction of All Families Healthcare attributed by police to Zachary Klundt (and perhaps to people behind his acts) cannot be passed off lightly.

Even an amateur detective can see the philosophical link (and perhaps more) between Klundt, the son of a founder of the anti-abortion center Hope Pregnancy Ministries, and Michelle Reimer (the executive director of Hope Pregnancy Ministries) and her husband Kent, who are the current owners of the property previously leased by All Families Healthcare.

It is my understandiung that when the Reimers recently purchased the property, All Families Healthcare was told to move out. As of today a sign advertising the property for lease is still in the building’s window, leading to the conclusion that the Reimers hoped to stop All Families from providing medical services, less than 10 percent of which — by the way — is abortion related, a legal service sanctioned by the Supreme Court and the federal and Montana state governments; in other words, the greater community.

But All Families Healthcare reopened in a new location, and destruction followed, leaving our local community badly hurt by what I would call a hate crime. After 38 years of medical support and service to the Flathead Valley, All Families Healthcare is in ruins, the health records and medical histories of families all over the Flathead severely damaged, and the excellent medical support Susan Cahill and her staff provided, gone.

Authentic Christians, Jews, Muslims and other groups live peacefully together in this valley and in this great independent state, sharing sometimes dissimilar views. That is in the spirit of Jesus. The hate and destruction perpetrated on the All Families clinic is not. It should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, the community’s law. The health of our community depends on it.
