LIBBY — The Libby Loggers softball team picked up two wins on Saturday, defeating Idaho’s Timberlake 10-0 and Sandpoint 13-2 in nonconference action at the Libby Invitational.

Hannah England threw five scoreless innings against Timberlake and catcher Devon Gallagher hit a grand slam as the Loggers (4-0) needed just four and a half innings to help head coach Dean Thompson earn his 200th career win.

“Libby has always had such a great program,” Thompson said.

“Our girls, year-in and year-out, come in to compete. It feels really good to get that win.”

The Logger’s second game was more of the same. Leading 8-1 after two innings, Libby added five more runs before winning in four and a half innings. England gave up just two runs before Staci Regh relieved her for the final two.

Mahalah Wedel went 2 for 3 and drove in a run while Gallagher drove in three runs totaling seven RBIs on the day.

“The girls played well and we batted well,” Thompson said. “Hannah pitched two good games and only gave up a few hits. Staci came in with good relief in the second.

“We play in such a tough conference it’s nice to get these warm-up games in. Hopefully we hit as well as we did today to win some coneference games.”
