Flathead and Glacier opened their tennis seasons to some success, hosting Great Falls High and Great Falls C.M. Russell on a blustery Saturday at Flathead Valley Community College.

The Braves picked up the only team win of the day for Flathead in their early matchup with C.M. Russell. Led by singles wins from Tyler Beagley and Wyatt McGillen, the Braves topped the Rustlers 5-2 in their first match of the season. The teams of Tristen Dills and Eric West, Joey Wisher and Bodie Schieffer and Axel Bladholm and Ridge Lemke each picked up doubles victories.

The Flathead boys didn’t fare as well against Great Falls High, falling 5-1. Bridger Putnam and Wyat McGillen won their doubles match 8-3 to pick up a point for the Braves.

The Bravettes were swept clean against both schools, losing to CMR 8-0 and Great Falls High 7-0.

The Glacier boys had a strong start, sweeping CMR and dropping just one match to Great Falls High. The Wolfpack won every match in straight sets against the Rustlers, even leading the one match that was suspended because of darkness.

Hunter and Holland Blalack each picked up a pair of singles wins, as did the Wolfpack’s top three doubles teams.

It was the doubles teams that buoyed the Glacier girls, winning every contest and scoring all but one point for the team. Julia Cecil won the Wolfpack’s only singles match.
