Timothy L. Gilmer Sr., 50

Timothy L. Gilmer Sr., 50, of Delphos, Ohio, died at 9:23 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the emergency room of St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio after a sudden illness.

He was born July 12, 1963, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Marquita Kathleen Gilmer and Raymond Dale Bray. Raymond preceded him in death and his mother survives in Kingman, Ariz. His stepfather, Thomas Romano, survives in Riverside, Calif.

He married Joyce A. Wreede on July 14, 1998, and she survives in Delphos. Also surviving are his children, Melissa and Adam Fuqua of Delphos, Ashley Gertrude Maag of Lima, Timothy Lee Gilmer Jr. and Scott Anthony Gilmer, both of Delphos, Samantha Ann Gilmer of Washington, Daniel Warren and Von Tropper, both of Kalispell. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara Roby and Travis Kilgore Jr., both of Lima, Chase Fuqua of Ada, Ohio, Jaylen Fuqua of Kenton, Ohio, and Faith Gould, Orianna Gould and Asianna Maag, all of Lima. He is survived by his siblings, Anthony and Nicole Romano of Kingman, Reina and Dwayne Simmons, and Shelly and Mike Debus, both of Willow Valley, Ariz., Tom Romano of Bent, Mo., and Tonya and Jason Kelly of Arizona. He is also survived by Joyce's parents, Tom and Nancy Wreede, and her sisters and their husbands, Thelma and Ron Street, and Tina and Rick Kodiak, all of St. Marys, Ohio.

Mr. Gilmer had been a sous chef and a boxer at the Riverside Casino, obtaining and 34-0 record in the ring. He was the chief of the Wrightwood Tribe in California. Tim began cooking at the age of 14, to support his mother and younger siblings, and it then became a passion for him. He was the head cook at the Sizzler in Kalispell. He was member of the culinary department at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

Services were held Thursday, April 10 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home in Lima, with Pastor Harry Tolhurst officiating.
