Great minds and mediocre minds

Thanks to Mr. Miele for his “2 cents” column of March 16. Our Declaration of Independence, our “Constitution and Bill Of Rights were given to us by a few people experiencing true moments of genius. These works have offered us nearly perfect directions for the creation, founding and development of a nation that has been a living example for how it should be done. Empowering moments of genius are rare and the results of those moments must be cherished, followed and used.

“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds,” said Albert Einstein. When this quote is expanded to include concepts, works and ideas of great spirits, like our Constitution, mediocre minds are easy to find. With our blessings, the government has become a hive of powerful, myopic, mediocre minds, with agendas that don’t include our self-empowerment or individual freedoms.

We elect people to positions of great power, ignore them and leave them to their own devices, trusting that somehow their newly developed mediocre minds will find the ability to do great things. Then, we complain when they don’t.

The void caused by our ignoring has been filled by people with an unrestrained pursuit of power and profit, who control the government’s collective mediocre mind. There is a big “however” here that we can use if we chose. “They,” the controllers, don’t know what to do with a well-informed, well educated people involved in regaining control of their great nation.
